Returning to school as an adult isn’t a confidence issue — it’s a context issue. Most adult learners haven’t forgotten how to think. What they’ve lost access to is the language of academic writing, the expectations behind assignments, and the confidence to trust their voice in institutional spaces. This program rebuilds the context: how academic writing works, why it works that way, and how to work with it instead of against it.

This is not remedial writing. It is foundational, on purpose — a 15-week arc that mirrors a first-year university composition course while staying flexible, human, and adaptive to adult lives. Every format ends with a portfolio that demonstrates growth and readiness.

Fifteen weeks, six phases.

Wk 1	Arrival & Diagnostic	Intake review; diagnostic writing sample; confidence mapping; co-created community agreements.
Wk 2–4	Foundations	How writing actually works; the sentence & the paragraph; reading like a writer.
Wk 5–7	Structure & Argument	Entering the conversation; thesis & outline; building the argument.
Wk 8–10	Rhetoric & Analysis	The rhetorical situation; Language Is Power (Baldwin, register & code); analysis workshop.
Wk 11–13	Application	Working with sources; synthesis & integration; the final essay, drafted.
Wk 14–15	Reflection	Revision as strategy; portfolio & forward motion.
